If you are not aware of the dark side of the world, you are about to find out something you have never heard of before: people who thrived on torturing human beings. There are many leaders and powerful persons who have inflicted pain to the lives of other human beings in the past. The following is a list of these individuals and some shocking revelations about their lives.
Josef Mengele
Josef Mengele is the evil man behind the Auschwitz, and was referred to as the angel of death. The Auschwitz was an extermination camp that was ran by Josef throughout the Second World War. Hundreds of thousands died in the gas chambers: 400,000 of the people who died were Jews. This man also oversaw inhuman acts of horrific scientific experimentations that were done to the prisoners of that camp.
Reinhard Heydrich
Historians believe that he was the darkest figure in the Nazi elite. He engineered the movement and execution of 60,000 Jews to Poland ghetto where they were subsequently killed in the camps. Even Adolf Hitler described this evil person as a man with an iron heart.
Saddam Hussein
Saddam was responsible for executing over 2 million people in what was viewed as religious genocide. His two sons took after him, and were involved in heinous acts such as burglary, violence and murder. Saddam was hung for the crimes against humanity.
Adolf Eichmann
His greatest regret of the Second World War is that the Nazi’s were not able to kill more Jews. He once said that if his own father were a traitor, he would kill him. He was responsible for the death of over six million Jews.
Heinrich Himmler
He was an evil man whose home had furnishings made from the human bones and the skin of the victims he tortured. He was an accomplice of Reinhard Heydrich.
Talaat Pasha
This man was a sultan of the Ottoman Empire into the teen of the 20th century. He oversaw the rape, torture and genocide of approximately 1.5 million Armenians.
Elizabeth Bathory
She lived between August 7, 1560 – August 21, 1614) in Hungary. Surprisingly, this evil ready was fond of blood, especially that of young tender girls. How many of you cringe at the thought of blood? Believe it or not, more than 650 bodies of the young girls that she brutally tortured and subsequently killed were found buried beneath her Csetje castle. She is believed to be a cannibal though there is no enough evidence to support that. Having come from the noble family, she was never sent to trial but all her accomplices were sentenced to death by burning.
Osama Bin Laden
Osama received his formal education in the United States. He formed an Islamist group called Al-Qaeda. He is the man behind many terrorist attacks in the world, most notably the 9/11 where he targeted the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon. He was killed by elite forces.
Maximilien Robespierre
This French man operated on a weird principal that it was easier to kill than to forgive. In a 10-month period, Maximilien killed many people including people that were close to him. He showed no mercy to anyone.
Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini
Under Ayatollah’s reign, the people of Iran lived in hard conditions that were characterized by imprisonment and torture if they dared to speak ill of him.
Emperor Hirohito
He was the emperor behind massive crimes against humanity: the genocide of Indonesians, Koreans, Filipinos, Indochinese, Chinese and Koreans. It was under his leadership that soldiers raped 200,000 women and even went ahead to force fathers to rape their daughters.
Nero
Nero wan a Roman emperor. He spent his days torturing Christians by stabbing, poisoning, burning and sometimes crucifixion. He even killed his own mother. He is blamed for the Great Fire of Rome on those Christians.
Caligula
He was the third of the Rome’s empire. Caligula believed that he was god and thus was untouchable. He murdered a lot of people including his closest friends.
Kim II Sung
He was the man at the helm on the South Korea invasion by the soviets and china. From that, it is estimated that more than 3 –million people lost their lives.
Attila the Hun
He was a famous Roman ruler during the 400s. He murdered a catholic saint known as Ursula and her 11,000 companions in cold blood.
Genghis Khan
He was a ruler in the Mongolian Empire. It is believed that between 10%- 30% of the world’s population lost their lives from his leadership. He massacred millions of people. In one famous massacre, he killed 700,000 people.
Leopold II of Belgium
It looked like this king was developing Congo, feeding the population and educating them. In essence, he was torturing and killing the people. He is believed to have killed around half of the entire population on Congo Free State.
Tomas de Torquemada
He was a Dominican friar and was the first Grand Inquisitor of the 15th century Spanish inquisition. Under this man’s reign, many people were tortured and killed.
Mao Zedong
He is a former dictator of china. Around 70- million people were killed under his leadership. It is worth noting that china suffered some worst famine during his reign and also the worst genocide on record.
Ivan the Terrible
He was the Grand prince of Moscow in the 1950s. He beat down Russians aimlessly and even forced people out of their homes to torture them elsewhere. He went as far as frying humans alive.
Idi Amin
Idi Amin will go down in history as one of the most brutal dictators in the world, having killed between 300,000-500,000 Ugandans.
Pol Pot
He is responsible for the death of 3 –million Cambodians in the 1970s. He instructed his men to kill people with their hands and even with sticks.
Adolf Hitler
He was a leader of the Nazi party in Germany. He was responsible for the death of over 11- million people. The Second World War killed over 50- million people.
Joseph Stalin
He was a leader of the Soviet Union, and was responsible for the killing of 40 million people. He was known for his famous phrase that said that a single death is a tragedy whereas a million deaths just a mere statistics.
Oliver Cromwell
He was and English military man and a political leader. He believed that it was God who was guarding his military conquests. He massacred thousands of Irish people, imprisoned catholic priests and deported over 50,000 Irish people. He was also responsible for dismissing the parliament by force. He was responsible for the deaths of nearly half of the contemporary Irish population.
